While watching Heroic Trio on Netflix (haven’t seen this movie in awhile) got me thinking about some of my favorite trio, kick butt, fighting female groups that I enjoyed watching while I was younger and now.
I got to start with Heroic Trio since it inspired me to make this post. You have Wonder Woman (Shadow Fox) , Invisible Woman (Number 3), and Thief Catcher (Mercy). These lovely characters are played by the late Anita Mui (We dearly miss you.) Michelle Yeoh, and Maggie Cheung. It came in 1993, but probably didn’t watch it until 1998 or 1999. Whenever, I saw it, I fell completely in love. The martial arts was amazing, but that’s not why I like it so much. The story flows and connects. For, example Ching (IW) and Tung (SF) near each other when they were younger. How? Each of them have a flashback dream of climbing up a mountain to be accepted, but only Ching makes it meaning Tung leaves to never been again until adulthood. Then Chat (Mercy) joins she can relate to Ching about being controlled by the evil master. Three women from different walks of live join together and look sexy while kicking butt.
Next up will be, Cleopatra 2525. In this science fiction TV show you have Cleopatra (Cleo), Helen (Hel), and Sarge (Rose). Played by Jennifer Sky, Gina Torres, and Victoria Pratt. I don’t remember too much about this show, because I moved and forgot about it. So, I didn’t get a chance to what the whole first season and didn’t know there was a second season. I just remember three women fighting and traveling to different times. Mmm, I’ll see if Netflix has this.
Then, you have the Powerpuff Girls, I remember sometimes waking up early or in the afternoon watching this cartoon. Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice…these were the chosen ingredients to make…Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Once again each one of them had a different personality. Blossom was the leader, bossy chic, Bubbles the cute, innocent, but “inside was tough”, and Buttercup was the toughest fighter always ready to pick a fight, but also had a hidden soft side. Personally, Buttercup was my favorite, the Bubbles because those are the two I can most relate to. Then there were times I wanted to be Blossom.
I’ll end with Charlie’s Angel, I’m talking about the semi new Charlie’s Angels. Natalie, Dylan, and Alex. Portrayed by Carmen Diaz, Lucy Liu, Drew Berrymore. They made Charlie’s Angels more modern. Once again you have three woman kicking butt while looking sexy. I still give my thanks to the original Charlie’s Angels. Just found out there’s a new Charlie’s Angels TV series coming out this fall. New Angels!
